Break You Blog Tour: Review + Giveaway

Blaire Hayes enjoys a quiet life, spending her days as a CNA at the local nursing home and nights studying for exams. She prefers things to be as uncomplicated as possible -- but when her friends drag her to a party and she bumps into her high school crush, the path of Blaire’s life veers in an entirely different direction than what she had planned for herself.

Jason Bryant created a nice life away from his hometown, putting distance between himself and the suffocating sadness of his father’s death. But when he finds out his grandfather’s health is deteriorating, he decides he must return home. Partying was not on his agenda while in town, but it’s how he bumps into Blaire Hayes—the girl he’d always thought of in high school as an unobtainable pass.

Together the two learn there are moments in life that hold within them all the power to break you...

Review:
First line:
There's only one question that plagues our minds when we are forced to face the unthinkable, one question that never allows for any answer to suffice or even for an ounce of comfort to be felt in some situations.

I loved Blaire's character. She was strong and independent, but also with some introverted tendencies. She wants to get through her schooling and earn her RN license. I was kinda iffy about how I felt about Jason. Some moments I loved him, like when he fights for a spot in Blaire's life. And there where some moments when I disliked him, like when he hung out with Marla (<- bad decision). I do feel like Jennifer did an amazing job of capturing the male POV and showing how much social media such as Facebook affects our lives and can also lead to miscommunication.

I feel like I've read a lot of books lately that I feel have insufficient backstories. Break You is one of them. Jason father and grandmother died within three years of each other but we never learn why or what exactly Jason was feeling during these times other than his current regret for not being there for his mother. There two events are what is driving Jason's current actions and thus I feel like they should have been delved into a little bit more.

The subline "A Coldcreek Novel" leads me to believe that Jennifer might be writing companion novels. There are so many characters I would love to see that for. I can't wait to see what Jennifer has in store for us in this tiny town!!
