ARC Review: Hopeless (Hopeless #1) by Colleen Hoover

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

First line:
I stand up and look down at the bed, holding my breath in fear of the sounds that are escalating from deep within my throat.
I will not cry.

Sky lives a normal life. Okay, maybe not normal, but fairly so compared to what she finds out in this book. She's homeschooled but about to start her senior year at the public high school. Her mother doesn't allow any electronics in the house. No TV, no cell phone, no computer. But Sky is used to it. In fact, she never actually gives her mother any trouble.

Everything in Sky's life changes when she meets Holder. He's moody and intense. Yet, he's the only guy she's ever been attracted to. And she should know because she's made out with a lot of guys and all they've made her feel is numb.

But Holder is hiding something from Sky, something that will change her life forever.

I didn't know what to think of Holder at first. His sudden mood changes were weird. But slowly, we develed into his past and learned more about him and I slowly fell in love with him.  He takes responsibility for everything that happens. Anything that goes wrong in his life or in those closest to him is his fault. But with Sky's help he learns to let go of his guilt.

Sky's life has changed. Things from her past are coming back to haunt her. Things she doesn;t even remember. But with Holder's help, she knows she can get through anything.

I adored Hopeless. The beginning is funny but as the book moved on, it more serious. The climax was heartwrenching and fast paced. But I also adored the ending. it was perfect!!

I can't wait to read Holder's POV in Losing Hope!!!
