Sometimes love is meant to be. But sometimes love...is the death of you....--------------
Seventeen-year-old Scarlet has just died. Only, dying isn't unusual for a girl under a centuries old curse that left her semi-immortal.
This time, though, she comes back to her current life instead of awaking in a new one, and she realizes the curse is changing. Together with the immortal Archer brothers, Scarlet must piece together her life and try to break the curse before her impending death comes again.
First line:
Tristan watched the brilliant blue light fade from Scarlet's eyes.---------------
This book was amazing. Not only do we learn what happens after Scarlet dies, but we also get to see how the curse came to be. Everything from Tristan and Scarlet's first encounter to Scarlet and Gabriel's wedding day. I loved walking with Scarlet on her journey to break the curse and to remember, not only the fountain of youth, but who she was. I love all the things we learn about her through her journey.
I've always been Team Tristan and now I'm also supporting a Heather/Gabriel relationship. Heather, as always, is a fun character to get to know, as is Nate
---------------
Favorite moments:
"We are a team," Nate corrected. "We're Team Awesome and I'm team captain." He looked at Tristan. "You can call me Captain. Or Captain America, if you'd like. I'm even willing to settle for Captain Jack."
"I couldn't stop loving you even if I tried. And I've tried." He shook his head and laughed without humor, his hands balling into fists. "God, how I've tried. But I'm completely lost to you. I am lost and empty and broken-"
"Hello, hunter," Scarlet said, drawing another arrow and aiming it at his head. "I would not do that if I were you."
