I just got Mistborn: The Final Empire from the library, so I did my research on the Cosmere reading order. Brandon Sanderson has a YouTube video (which I've included at the end of this article) that explains his recommended reading order. I decided to put it in picture format because that's easier for me to keep track of.
Start off with the original Mistborn trilogy
Then read a couple of the stand-alonesEase into The Stormlight Archives with The Way of Kings
Finish off Mistborn with the Wax and Wayne Cycle
Add in a couple more stand-alonesFinish of the Stormlight Archives (but add in a couple more books to the order)Finally, read Sanderson's latest book in the Cosmere.
You can add in the novellas included in Arcanum Unbounded anywhere in the mix
- It includes nine novellas
- The Emperor's Soul (an Elantris novella)
- The Hope of Elantris (an Elantris novella)
- The Eleventh Metal (a Mistborn novella)
- Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania (a Wax & Wayne novella)
- Mistborn: Secret History (a Mistborn Novella)
- White Sand
- Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell
- Sixth of the Dusk
- Edgedancer (a Stormlight Archives novella [included earlier in the reading order])
Let me know where you are in your Cosmere reading adventure! I'm so excited to start!
