Two Twisted Crowns (The Shepherd King #2) by Rachel Gillig

In the luscious, dark sequel to One Dark Window, Elspeth must face the consequences of what she's wrought - perfect for readers of Hannah Whitten's For the Wolf and Alexis Henderson's The Year of the Witching.

Elspeth and Ravyn have gathered most of the twelve Providence Cards, but the last, and most important one remains to be found: The Twin Alders.

If they are going to find it before the Solstice and cure the kingdom of the dark magic infecting it, they will need to journey beyond the dangerous mist-cloaked forest that surrounds their kingdom.

And the only one who can lead them there is the monster that shares Elspeth's head. The Nightmare. And he's not eager to share any longer.

I loved getting to see more character POVs in this book versus just Elspeth's POV in One Dark Window. And the world building in this book was just *chef's kiss.* I loved learning more about the Shepherd King as Elspeth did. I did get a little bored at points and that's what dropped it to 3 stars. Though I love Raven and Elspeth, I felt we didn't get much time of them as a couple in either books and that is disappointing. It made the longing they were both feeling, but particularly Raven, fall flat.

Gillig has a new duology in the works and I'm excited to know if it's set in the same world or not. Maybe in a different kingdom? I wish we learned more about the other kingdoms that are implied to have existed in this world, but hopefully we will soon!
